What If I Miss a Rehearsal?

Band rehearsing weekly in a London studio

Life happens. A late meeting, a sick kid, a train cancellation. It is one of the most common questions we get before someone joins, so here is the honest answer.

What we ask of you

12 weekly 2-hour rehearsals over the term, with attendance at least 9 of the 12 sessions. That is the commitment that keeps a band actually working, since your bandmates are relying on you as much as you are relying on them.

What happens if you cannot make one

You let your band director know. That is it. There is no penalty, no awkward conversation, just a quick message so the band can plan the session without you. Every rehearsal is recorded, so you can catch up on what you missed and stay on top of your parts at home.

Why this matters more than it might seem

A band only sounds good when everyone knows their part. Missing the occasional session is normal. What breaks a band is nobody communicating, or one person disappearing for weeks without a word. A quick heads-up to your director keeps everything on track.

What happens at the end of the term

You decide what is next. Quit, ask to move to a different band, or keep rolling with the same band into the next term. Most members choose to roll over, because 12 weeks is usually just the start of finding the right fit, not the end of it.

If your worry about joining is fear of letting people down over a busy few months, that is exactly what this system is built to handle.
