What Happens at a BetheBand Meet & Greet?

"Don't be nervous, just join. What have you got to lose?" That is what one of our guitarists told us when we asked what he would say to someone hesitating.

The Meet & Greet is usually the thing people worry about most. Here is exactly what it is.

It is a conversation, not a test

You meet one of our professional band directors, one to one, in person. They ask about your playing level, the genres you love, and what you want to get out of a term. That is it. No stressful auditions, no panel, no scoring sheet.

As one of our vocalists put it: "I'd say go along for a meet and greet. Meet the musical directors. Get a feel for it."

What we are actually listening for

We want to understand how you play, not catch you out. Singers should be able to hold a note in key, drummers should be able to keep a beat, and everyone else should be able to play in time with basic chords. Beyond that baseline, we are far more interested in your goals and your style than a flawless performance.

What happens after

We use everything from the Meet & Greet to match you into a band, built around your skill level, genre preferences and goals for the term. Finding the right fit can take time. We would rather place you well than place you fast.

Why it matters

The Meet & Greet is what makes every band that follows actually work. It is how we make sure the four or five people rehearsing together every week are genuinely suited to each other, not just the first people available.
